Mercer County Board Members unanimously passed a resolution to make the county a sanctuary county for firearms.
26 of Illinois' 102 counties have passed "gun sanctuary" resolutions or similar measures. The term is a play on the phrase "sanctuary city," which describes cities where political and law enforcement leaders limit their cooperation

The board also approved a resolution opposing the enactment of any legislation that would infringe upon the citizens right to bear arms.
Motion by Member Neuhauser, Second by Member Crawford to approve Second Amendment Resolution 20 (E18-62). Motion carried by Voice Vote. Member Sundell opposed.
The Lawrence County Board has approved what it is calling a Second Amendment Rights resolution. Board members approved the resolution to disagree with the Illinois Legislature pending support of new gun laws.
Tuesday, June 19th, 2018 the Woodford County Board had its monthly meeting. The agenda was full of resolutions and ordinances that needed to be voted on. Most were passed unanimously especially the resolution declaring Woodford a “Sanctuary County”.
Clark County Board passed a Resolution expressing its displeasure with the Illinois State Legislature’s continuous attacks on the Second Amendment Rights of its citizens.
In a 16-2 vote Wednesday, the Shelby County Board reaffirmed a 2003 resolution of support for the Second Amendment.
