United States and State of Illinois Constitutional Support
Whereas, 55 ILCS 5/2-4001 of the Code of Illinois requires each commissioner elected to the Menard County Board to take an oath of office to solemnly swear to support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and;
Whereas, it is the duty and obligation of the Commissioners of the Menard County Board, Illinois pursuant to the oath each Board member has sworn to uphold upon taking office, to support, uphold and defend the United States and Illinois Constitutions for the protection and general welfare of its citizens, and;
Now, therefore, be it resolved by the commissioners of the Menard County Board, Illinois that the governing body of the County of Menard, Illinois shall continue to honor and uphold the oath each member of the Board of Commissioners has taken to support and defend the Constitution of the United States, which includes Second Amendment rights, and the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and shall not endeavor to act in a manner in any way that will erode the constitutionally protected rights and principles granted to our citizens that we all hold so dearly.
