On May 3, 2021 the City Council of Lakefield, Minnesota passed a resolution in support of the Second Amendment. The Resolution passed with a vote of 4-1.

CITY OF LAKEFIELD
Designating Lakefield as a Second Amendment Dedicated City
WHEREAS, the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed” and,
WHEREAS, the City of Lakefield wishes to express opposition to any law that would restrict the constitutional right of the citizens of Lakefield to keep and bear arms;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Lakefield, County of Jackson, Minnesota:
That the Lakefield City Council hereby expresses its intent to uphold and protect the Second Amendment rights of the citizens of Lakefield, and
That the Lakefield City Council hereby declares Lakefield as a “Second Amendment Dedicated City”, and That the Lakefield City Council hereby declares its intent to oppose any infringement on the rights of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms, and
That the City of Lakefield will refuse to appropriate any city resources to enforce any mandate, law, policy, order, or any other directive which infringes on the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms, and
That the Lakefield City Council will use any legal means, including court action, to protect the Second Amendment rights of the citizens of Lakefield.
Adopted by the Council this 3rd day of May, 2021.
