FRANKLIN COUNTY RESOLUTION 2021-081
BEFORE THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FRANKLIN COUNTY, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING THE SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND AFFIRMING THE FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS OF FRANKLIN COUNTY’S CITIZENS TO FREE SPEECH AND PEACEABLE ASSEMBLY, TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS AND MAINTAIN ESSENTIAL LIBERTIES AND FREEDOMS PROTECTED IN THE BILL OF RIGHTS TO THE US CONSTITUTION
WHEREAS, The Franklin County Board of Commissioners constitutes the duly elected legislative body for Franklin County, Washington; and
WHEREAS, each Commissioner has sworn an oath to support and defend the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Washington; and
WHEREAS, Recently proposed legislation and executive orders from the President of the United States and Congress, and the executive and legislative branches of the State of Washington, have sought to limit or eliminate certain traditionally held rights of the people guaranteed under the Constitution of the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners finds these legislative and executive efforts to be contrary to the intent and purpose of the Bill of Rights, particularly under the 1st and 2nd Amendments;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners hereby reaffirms our united support for those rights guaranteed under the U.S. and State of Washington’s Constitutions and hereby recognizes the citizens’ right to exercise freedom of speech and peaceable assembly, the right to keep and bear arms for personal protection of life and property, protect against unreasonable search and seizure, and ensure all other fundamental rights.
