NYE COUNTY RESOLUTION NO. 2021-13 A RESOLUTION MAKING NYE COUNTY A BILL OF RIGHTS SANCTUARY

WHEREAS, every day we see scores of states and cities across the nation abusing authority by unjustly trampling American citizens’ rights. Whether it’s immigration, free speech, freedom of assembly, racial issues, religious issues, the right to assemble peaceably, or the right to keep and bear arms, American culture appears to be straying into a very dark chasm of disregard for the principles of our founding fathers.

WHEREAS, to quote Thomas Jefferson: “We hold these truths to be sacred & undeniable; that all men are created equal & independent, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent & inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these ends, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

WHEREAS, Freedom only survives if people have an option to choose it, and in Nye County, Nevada, it is the opinion of the Nye County Board of County Commissioners that you have that option.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Nye County Board of County Commissioners vote to uphold the founding principles in the documents of freedom under the Constitution’s first ten amendments to declare Nye County, Nevada a sanctuary for the Bill of Rights.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that by unanimously passing this proposal, Nye County will set an example for liberty-minded and law-abiding citizens everywhere. If you live in, work in, or visit Nye County, you are welcome here regardless of race, religion, gender, or political affiliation.

APPROVED this 20th day of April, 2021.
