On May 4, 2021, Worcester County, Maryland Commissioners passed a proclamation declaring the county a Constitution and Bill of Rights Sanctuary. The county commissioners had originally proposed passing a Second Amendment Sanctuary but decided that they wanted to support the entire Bill of Rights and Constitution. Proclamation
WHEREAS, on November 6, 2018, we, the seven members of the Board of County Commissioners of Worcester County, Maryland, executed the oath of office; and
WHEREAS, on that solemn date, we swore to bear true allegiance to the State of Maryland and support the Constitution of the United States and laws thereof, and to best of our skills and judgements, diligently and faithfully, without partiality or prejudice, execute the office of Worcester County Commissioner, according to the Constitution and laws of this State.
NOW, THEREFORE, we the County Commissioners of Worcester County, Maryland, reaffirm our oath and proclaim Worcester County to be a Sanctuary for the Constitution of the United States and the entire Bill of Rights.
Executed under the Seal of the County of Worcester, State of Maryland, this 4th day of May, in the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty-One.
