With some free time on my hands over the holiday, I tracked down reporting that shows that the City of Eagle, Idaho passed a Second Amendment Sanctuary resolution back on September 8, 2020. RESOLUTION NO. 20-20
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EAGLE, ADA COUNTY, IDAHO DECLARING THE CITY OF EAGLE, IDAHO TO BE A SECOND AMENDMENT SANCTUARY CITY, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS the Right ofthe People to Keep andB ear Arm s i s guaranteed as an Individual Right under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and under the Constitution ofthe State of Idaho, Article 1, Section 11, and;
WHEREAS the Right of the People to Keep and Bear Arms for defense of Life, Liberty. and Property is regarded as an Inalienable Right by the People of the City of Eagle, Idaho, and;
WHEREAS, the Eagle City Council, has been elected to represent the People of Eagle, Idaho and being duly sworn by their Oath ofOffice to uphold the United States Constitution and the Constitution ofthe State of Idaho and;
WHEREAS, the citizens ofEagle are opposed to any legislation considered by the Idaho State Legislature or the United States Congress that would infringe upon the right to keep and bear arms and would ban the possession and use ofany firearms, magazines, ammunition, or accessories now employed by individual citizens ofEagle, for defense oflife, liberty and property or would require firearms owner’s ID card or tax the possession ofthe firearms or ammunition within Eagle, Idaho.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Eagle City Council hereby declares the City of Eagle to be a Second Amendment Sanctuary City.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the Eagle City Council does hereby oppose the enactment of any legislation that would infringe upon the rights of the People to keep and bear arms and consider such laws to be unconstitutional and beyond lawful legislative authority.
BE IT FURTHER THE RESOLVED the People of Eagle, Idaho affirm support of the Eagle Police Department, and additionally, specifically to exercise sound discretion to not enforce against any citizen any unconstitutional laws.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Eagle City Council will not appropriate any funds for any enforcement ofunconstitutional laws against the People ofEagle, Idaho.
