Since we published update on 02/12/2020 Map, there has been a massive influx of counties joining the Second Amendment Sanctuary Counties movement. In total, we have added 67 new counties to our map, with corresponding articles published on this site for verification. We have been sent information about new counties from Sheriffs, District Commissioners, militia spokespeople, grassroots movement leaders and general, everyday patriots like yourself.

Please keep in mind that it is entirely possible that we have not included a few counties that have passed Second Amendment Sanctuary resolutions. We have to verify their status before we can add them to our maps, so if you don’t see your county on the map, don’t get upset. Just send us an email at contact@sanctuarycounties.com (along with some verification of the county’s Sanctuary status) and we will add it before the next National Map Update. Alternatively, you can add a comment below with the necessary information and we will get it squared away.

Verification

Generally, this verification takes the shape of a link to a news article, a link to the meeting minutes of a board meeting, a picture of a signed resolution or even a link to a live stream of the event. This information can be difficult and time consuming to track down. For this reason, we sometimes will not have counties reflected on our map that have already declared Sanctuary County status.

News Media

Since our last map was used by a few news outlets (thank you for visiting our site), we decided to make a high resolution version of the national map graphic available for your use on the big screen. We created a shared folder on Google Drive that you should be able to access and download the file from. Click here to access that shared folder.

If you have difficulty accessing that link, feel free to just email us and we’ll send along a copy of the high resolution map as soon as possible.

New County Posts

As we verify each county, we have been adding those verifications as posts here on the site. In the past few months, we have added 570 articles verifying Sanctuary County status to our site. Often, these are simply links to news articles where we found verification, but you can comb through our records to find your county if you like. It can actually be looked at as somewhat of a historical record of the Sanctuary Counties movement. If you’d like to take a look at the massive amount of work we’ve done, please visit this page: http://sanctuarycounties.com/category/states/.

New Map Breakdown

Here is the breakdown of map additions, along with links to pages where you can take a look at all of the new associated articles that we’ve put up on the website to verify them:

This brings the total to 972 of 3141 (Counties, Boroughs, Parishes and Independent Cities), this number includes the 4 states who have passed Acts protecting the Second Amendment.

Additional Sourcing

We also went back and found additional sources for individual counties for which we had not had individual verifying information. Generally this is the result of utilizing a news article as verification that has a list of multiple counties that have declared Sanctuary status. Since publishing our last map, we actually went back and found specific verification for 30 separate counties that had been verified cumulatively in various news articles (i.e. along with multiple other counties).

If you have information that would help us verify more counties, please feel free to reach out to us by commenting below or emailing us at contact@sanctuarycounties.com. Also, please review above the description of the verification information we require in order to add a county to the map and try to include it when you contact us.

Thank you!

Finally a big thank you to all of the patriots who have been following the work we are doing here and sharing it on social media. This really is a lot of work, and honestly, we’re just a few Veterans working on gathering this information in our spare time to keep you all up to date. If any of you would like to volunteer to work with us, just send us an email. We’d be happy for any assistance. Thank you all so much!
