Lincoln County Commission President Josh Stowers and Commissioner Phoebe Harless have this evening approved a resolution declaring Lincoln County a Second Amendment Sanctuary. The 2-0 vote was welcomed with warm applause by the dozen or so Second Amendment protection advocates present for the regular session.

Former Delegate Rupie Phillips (standing) was among the speakers. Sheriff Gary Linville welcomed the decision and undertook to protect constitutional rights. “As long as I’m sheriff, we’ll never enforce laws that are unconstitutional,” he said.

A full report will follow in print and online, including a look at Hamlin’s work on the topic last Monday night.
