Commissioners eventually approved the resolution following the Marquette approach after first voting down two other alternative motions. Ultimately, commissioners Toni Drier and Izzy Lyman supported the original “sanctuary county” version of the resolution, while the remaining commissioners supported the moderate Marquette version.
