Hundreds of community members attended the meeting of the Craven County Commissioners. Due to the numbers the meeting was moved to the courthouse. Roughly thirty or more people spoke for and against the resolution, the vast majority of which were for. Several versions were submitted but the one presented was created by the board lawyer. Many speakers spoke that the resolution was inferior and did not represent the voice of the people. Once the resolution came to a vote it passed 7-0.
