RESOLUTION NO. 7597
APPROVAL RESOLUTION OPPOSING RED FLAG LEGISLATION
Motion by Arbuthnot, seconded by Elliott to adopt the following resolution:

CROWLEY COUNTY DECLARES ITS SUPPORT FOR THE SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION

WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Crowley County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Crowley County, Colorado, and

WHEREAS, the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects the inalienable and individual right of the people to keep and bear arms, and

WHEREAS, the Commissioners each took an oath to support and defend the United States Constitution, the Colorado Constitution, and the laws of the State of Colorado which are not deemed unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, and

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board to declare its support of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution and the provisions of the Colorado Constitution which protect Crowley County Citizens, inalienable and individual right to keep and bear arms.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Crowley County Board of County Commissioners to affirm their support to the Crowley County Sheriff in the exercise of his sound discretion to not enforce unconstitutional firearms laws.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners will not appropriate funds for capital improvements that would be used to support the enforcement of H.B. 19-1177.

Adopted on this 18th day of March, 2019 by the Crowley County Board of County Commissioners
