Otero County declares Second Amendment sanctuary status

The Otero County Commission voted unanimously at a special Otero County Commission meeting to declare Otero County a “Second Amendment Sanctuary County.” The meeting was attended by more than 500 people and was moved from the Otero County Commission Chamber to the Flickinger Center for the Performing Arts across the street which can hold up to 590. All but one of the 21 people who spoke during a public comment period were in favor of passing the resolution, including several who recited the elected officials’ oath of office.
