The Marion County Board unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday night against the state government passing any laws to limit the rights of gun owners.

The motion came with no discussion from the board or several interested persons in the audience. Community Relations Committee Chair Tabitha Meador says the resolution does not include making Marion County a sanctuary county if any gun control laws were passed by the state.

“I think with what he passed tonight with our Second Amendment Rights resolution that it establishes that Marion County is against the legislation that has been sponsored in Springfield limiting the rights of the second amendment,” said Meador.
